The collaborative project—led by Community Justice Project, Miami Workers Center, Florida Immigrant Coalition, and Florida Rising—mobilizes BIPOC women to ensure communities know their rights, have access to resources, shift narratives, and improve eviction defense through artistic collaborations, research, and the development of interactive tools.

To combat unfair evictions in predominately Black and Brown neighborhoods in Kansas City, MO. KC Tenants, a citywide tenant union led by a multiracial, multigenerational base of poor and working-class tenants, informs tenants of their rights, runs a volunteer-driven hotline, conducts community outreach, studies evictions data, utilizes media and art strategies to raise awareness, and trains other tenant unions and organizations.

To prevent evictions by responding to housing stabilization issues facing Chelsea, MA, a city with a large immigrant population, such as low housing stock and increased evictions. This collaborative, multi-stakeholder coalition of community-based organizations, elected officials, and community leaders addresses systemic challenges with immediate, long-term solutions such as rental assistance, eviction counseling, shelter services, and tenant-landlord mediation.

To expand the new Financial Opportunity Center and Housing Hub through a collaborative of the Piedmont Housing Alliance and community partners, guided by community voice. The Financial Opportunity Center and Housing Hub serves Charlottesville and Albemarle County residents, addressing generational racial inequity and offering a holistic range of financial stability, housing navigation, rental assistance, eviction prevention, and tenant-landlord mediation services.

To help develop and evaluate new housing mobility programs in localities, build a shared knowledge-base and create a housing mobility counseling and training platform for public housing agencies and providers of housing and community development services.

To engage in a housing justice policy shift in several cities while engendering broad adoption and use of racial equity housing narrative and cultural strategies.

To align key national homelessness and affordable housing organizations through the Framework project to better center what directly impacted people and communities are saying they want and need to thrive. To support a rent and utility relief fund being set up for residents in a majority-Black community in St. Louis.

To provide increased coaching and access to faculty for the Grand Challenge Communities (Hennepin County, MN; Richmond, VA; San Francisco, San Diego, and Miami) that are working to implement system accountability plans in light of COVID-19 to center youth with lived experience who are people of color and LGBTQI+.

To halt evictions and foreclosure, help place unhoused people in hotels, expand eviction/foreclosure counseling capacity, create tools for tenants to negotiate with landlords and represent undocumented tenants.

To support precariously housed families in its emergency shelter and rapid re-housing programs.
