Meet the Moment Rapid Response Fund

Across the country, new federal policies and regulations threaten families, low-income renters, and communities of color with even greater risk of displacement, homelessness, and long-term instability. The Meet the Moment Rapid Response Fund was created to respond to this moment and to urgently address new federal policies and regulations that harm people who are most in need.

Meet the Moment today

By contributing to the Rapid Response Meet the Moment Fund, you join a collective effort to respond boldly and urgently when federal action puts lives and livelihoods at risk. Together, we can ensure that resources and support move toward those most directly impacted—quickly, strategically, and at the scale this moment requires.

If you’re interested in contributing to the Rapid Response Fund or coordinating with other funders to meet this moment together, please reach out to Jeanne Fekade-Sellassie directly. You can also contribute using the form below. The suggested donation amount for funders is $20,000 - $100,000, and FHO has the ability to deploy larger donations as well.

Projects supported by Meet the Moment Fund include:

  • Rapid response legal defense and movement lawyering to challenge federal overreach

  • Multilingual Know Your Rights education and safety training resources

  • Tenant organizing to prevent displacement and prepare communities for ICE enforcement

  • Legal defense clinic to support unhoused people who have been fined, ticketed, or arrested

Why this fund matters now

From drastic funding cuts at HUD to draconian immigration enforcement, philanthropy must play a critical role in responding boldly and swiftly to federal directives that harm communities. Recent regulatory changes and policy shifts threaten to:

  • Weaken tenant protections and eviction defenses

  • Reduce access to safe, affordable housing

  • Increase criminalization and surveillance of unhoused people

  • Disproportionately harm Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, and disabled residents

  • Diminish local capacity to respond swiftly and strategically

Given the urgency created by the recent federal funding cuts and policy threats, we strongly encourage funders to engage now so we can act swiftly and collectively.

What your contribution makes possible

With pooled, flexible dollars, the fund can quickly deploy financial support to frontline organizations working to:

  • Respond to regulatory changes

  • Provide emergency legal defense for tenants facing eviction

  • Interrupt harmful narratives

  • Strengthen local and national coalitions defending housing right
